![]() Some areas of growth, there was a real focus on making sword play fun and useful not just necessary. The controls are a little toned down from ROTT, not really my preference, but I can still get it fairly jerky, the options are pretty deep for graphics and it plays well. Shadow Warrior, thankfully learned from the mistakes of Duke, and watched the growth in ROTT and took that, added some more depth and really ran with it. The game has the gorgeous scenery you would expect from a game located in Japan, Kio ponds and cherry blossoms, Lo Wang even comments on the stereo type. The games SLI support is only OK right now, but it should be improving, many games have some growing pains in the first week or two. The game looks VERY nice, the texturing is excellent and the lighting is better, really uses a GPU heavily as well. But I digress, the reinvention of Shadow Warrior is another great throwback to the 90’s, and I can’t thank it enough for that 90’s vibe but grown up a bit (technology wise, certainly not maturity). Sure there have great instances, like kamikaze-ing 5 guys in UT99 with a chainsaw when I was out of everything and it working out with a M-M-M-M-MonsterKill out of sheer dumb luck, sure that was awesome, but in general, melee in a FPS just sucks. Also, the only FPS game I can remember where I actually enjoyed the melee aspect of it. For those who did not play the original, think of Duke Nukem (90’s, not remake) that is a more obnoxious Japanese guy. Fast paced, too much carnage, jerky controls, trash talking, carnage, witty quips, and of course, more carnage. ![]() Shadow Warrior is another classic 90s FPS from the heyday of gratuitously over the top FPS’s. Hey all gaming forum and EGC community peoples, tonight I’m talking about Shadow Warrior! Not the 1997 classic, although that game was more than awesome in it’s day, I am actually meaning the brand new release.
